The Wall switch converter is installed behind an existing single or double wall switch. The purpose is to convert an existing wall switch to operate a wireless receiver within the Smartwares PRO and / or Phillips HUE product ranges.
You can switch on / off lighting or equipment that are part of the Smartwares PRO and / or Philips Hue (integration). You can activate scenes or adjust House statuses.

Add the Wall switch converter to the Link
Before you install the wall switch converter, keep in mind the following:
- Add the WallSwitch converter on the Link
The wall switch converter can be directly connected to a compatible connected device. In these instructions we indicate that you connect the wall switch converter to the HomeWizard Link. The link is directly disconnected as soon as you learn it at the HomeWizard Link.
- Traditional wall switch
- Replace the normal lights with Connected devices
The connected light fitting is no longer switched manually from the switch after you have installed the wall switch converter. Replace the connected lighting for a connected LED lamp, Color LED lamp or Philips Hue lamp which is then linked to the HomeWizard Link.
The following steps explain how you can add the wall switch converter in the HomeWizard Link app:
- Open the 'HomeWizard link' app.
- Go to the 'My home' at the bottom right of the screen. (Will be opened automatically when opening the app)
- Go to the 'House settings' in the app by clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner.
- Select 'Add device'
- You are in the 'Add device' screen.
- For switching & lights, select 'Wall switch converter' to add a wall switch converter to the HomeWizard Link
- If you are well prepared, press 'Next' to start the link.
- Follow the further instructions from the app.
Insert the wall switch converter batteryThe battery is required because the wall switch converter turns your wall switch into a wireless wall switch. Follow the procedure below to install the battery.

Link of Wall switch converter to the HomeWizard LinkPress and hold the button for 5 seconds, or until the LED indicator has blinked 8 times and starts to flash rapidly.(The LED will flash as soon as you press the button, but the speed will increase after 5 seconds) |
- Congratulations, you have added a wall switch converter to the HomeWizard Link.
Configure the Wall switch converter.
During the installation or afterwards, it is possible to configure action of the wall switch converter. You can assign different actions when you switch up to 4x (with 0.5 second interval)
- Open the 'HomeWizard app'
- Click on ‘Control’ at the bottom of the screen.
- You are in the 'Control' screen. Find the wall switch converter in the assigned room.
- Long Press on the‘Tile’’ to go to the ‘Control’ -settings.
- You are in the "Control" window of the Wall switch converter;
- See the settings window for how the wall switch converter is configured.
- Press on 'History' to view the history of the wall switch.
- Press on ‘Device settings’ to change the Name, Icon, Room or Automation.
- Press on 'Automation' to assign different action when you switch up 4x times (with 0,5 second interval) Each switching moment has the option of the following action;
- No action: no action is given during switching.
- Switch a device: Switching an individual device on or off.
- Activate a scene: Switch scene from a specific room

Which devices are supported with the 'switch a device' action?
In the 'switch a device' action, the following devices that are linked to the HomeWizard Link are compatible;
- LED lamp

- Smartwares Connected GU10 LED lamp HW1603

Placing and installing the Wall Switch converter
At the moment when the wall switch converter is added to the Link with the relevant action, you can place this wall switch converter and install it behind the wall switch. Ensure that you connect the existing wires together by using the supplied cable clamp. Use a connected LED lamp, Color LED lamp or Philips Hue lamp for the light fixture / fitting, which is then linked to the HomeWizard Link.
1. Preparation for useSwitch the power 'OFF' with the main switch in your meter cupboard. Ensure you have checked with a voltage meter that there is no residual voltage. |
2. Release the wall switchRemove the single wall switch or double wall switch from the mounting box. Mark the electrical cables that are connected on the back of the wall switch.TIP: Take a photo with your smartphone how the electrical cables are connected on the back of the wall switch. (see next step 5) |
3. Remove the cables from the wall switchRemove the 'SWITCH LIVE' wire or wires (double wall switch) from the wall switch Remove the 'LIVE' phase wire from the wall switch. This disconnect the wall switch form the electrical wiring NOTE: COLOURS MAY VARY! Consult an electrician if in doubt. PAY ATTENTION! Is a 'BLUE' neutral wire connected to the wall switch. The it is not possible to combine this (powered) wall switch with the wall switch converter. |
4. Connect the electrical wires to the welding terminalConnect the 'SWITCH LIVE' wire or wires and the 'LIVE' phase wire to the (supplied) welding clamp. As a result of this operation, the connected light point / fitting is supplied with constant current. |
5A. Connect the wall switch converter to the single wall switchConnect the 'WHITE' pulse cable and the 'YELLOW' pulse cables of the wall switch converter on the back of the loose single wall switch. The polarity of the pulse cables does not matter.TIP: Use the photo that you take to see where you connect the pulse cable on the back of the wall switch where the powered cables were previously connected. |
5B. Connect the wall switch converter to the double wall switchConnect the 'WHITE' pulse cable and the 'YELLOW' pulse cables of the wall switch converter on the back of the loose single wall switch. The order of the pulse cables does not matter. Repeat this process for the second wall switch converterTIP: Use the photo that you take to see where you connect the pulse cable on the back of the wall switch where the powered cables were previously connected. |
6. Place the wall switch back in the mounting boxPlace the wall switch and connected wall switch or wall switches back in the mounting box. Replace the cover and press it down. |
Congratulations, you have installed a wall switch converter so that the existing wall switch or double wall switch has become part of the HomeWizard Link.
PAY ATTENTION!Ensure that the wall switch converter does not come into contact with the mains cables.
Ensure that all unnecessary cables have been removed from the mounting box before installing the wall switch converter.Do not cut the pulse cables to extend them.The device (wall switch converter) does not work with a longer cable.
